J-1 Academic Training workshops
Academic Training for students enrolled in
a degree program at Stanford. As a J-1 student, you are
eligible for a variety of work opportunities in the U.S., but
employment without proper authorization is a serious violation
of status. Remember that before you start ANY kind of employment
(even on campus), you must first consult with your J-1 Responsible
Officer, whose written approval is necessary in advance.
A
number of J-1 visa issues will be covered including:
- on-campus employment
- work authorization (Academic Training / off-campus employment)
- 2 year home country residency requirement
- visa extension
