Maintaining Your Legal Status for both F-1 and J-1 students
This workshop is mandatory for all new international students. You need attend one workshop only.

J-1 Academic Training
Academic Training for students enrolled in a degree program at Stanford. As a J-1 student, you are eligible for a variety of work opportunities in the U.S., but employment without proper authorization is a serious violation of status. Remember that before you start ANY kind of employment (even on campus), you must first consult with your J-1 Responsible Officer, whose written approval is necessary in advance.
A number of J-1 visa issues will be covered including:
- on-campus employment
- work authorization (Academic Training / off-campus employment)
- 2 year home country residency requirement
- visa extension
- Location: I-Center Assembly room (1st floor, back conference room / through courtyard)

These workshops are held approximately twice per year and are conducted by an immigration attorney.
